The history of Total-R began long before its founding date of June 25, 2001. It really started with Jerry Resch and Doug Trapp, respective fathers of Total-R founders John and Darren, and their 20-year investment in Therm-all Insulation. In 1998, two major events occurred: John and Darren went to work for Therm-all, and Therm-all was sold to a public company.
Two years later, as the company that John, Darren and their fathers had grown with gradually lost its local focus and familiar culture, John and Darren considered the possibility of starting their own laminated insulation company. Their company would be in direct competition with Therm-all, yet also entirely different in its approach to relationships and service.
In mid-2001, John and Darren opened Total-R. Leveraging their construction knowledge and their fathers' legacies in the industry, the two started the company from square one. Over the course of the last five years, John and Darren have led Total-R through the following milestones:
